Ingmar Bergman’s Persona. 1966

Our Liv & Bibi Garden Hats were named after the main characters in Ingmar Bergman’s Persona. Liv Ullmann played the vampire character Elisabeth Vogler  and Bibi Andersson played Alma, a young nurse who cares for Ullmann.

If you haven’t watched it, and can bear psychological horror films, I highly recommend for the imagery and fashion inspiration alone.

As I was designing my SS19 collection, I was reacting to society’s internet personas, so I decided to make big, boisterous hats to fit the internet presence our peers have, so it only made sense to also make two hats in homage to the film Persona while I was at it. Being someone who doesn’t always love to wear natural or bleach colored straw hats, I added in black straw options for recovering goths like myself, (or current goths, Diane Keaton, I see you), two of which are very much in homage to Elisabeth Vogler and her nurse Alma.
