Tin Can Beach was a nickname for modern day Bolsa Chica beach, one of the last places in Southern California where vagrant beach bums lived in ramshackle beach houses made of scraps and driftwood after the 1920s oil boom through the middle of the century. Now a state beach and nature preserve, cultural relics remain in the form of bon fires on the beach and camping.

Visaya is a region in the Philippines, as well as a dialect of Tagalog. My grandmother is Visaya, and if you saw the seagrass there, you’d wonder why any merperson would ask their father for legs and leave the sea life for our terrestrial one.

This shallow crown boater Is made of wheat straw and is entirely hand sewn. The black grosgrain ribbon serve as a protection against wind gusts, and allow you to stay active without the threat of your hat flying off.
